INSTALL · VERSION 1.0.0

Start with a local preview.

The extension ZIP is available now. A Chrome Web Store listing is not yet publicly available. The interactive demo works without installing anything.

Load the extension in Chrome

  1. Download the ZIP and extract it into a folder you can keep on your device.
  2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome 120 or later. Turn on Developer mode.
  3. Click Load unpacked and select the extracted folder containing manifest.json.
  4. Pin SpecLatch using Chrome’s Extensions menu.
  5. Click SpecLatch to open your workspace. Create a project, import your CSV and confirm the exact approved values.
  6. On a supported retailer product page, click the SpecLatch toolbar icon. Select the correct project, choose Check this item, then pair the observed product with the approved item.

An unpacked extension does not update automatically. For a new release, export a backup, replace the files in the same folder and click Reload on the extension’s card. Do not uninstall if you want to preserve your local records.

Use the right approved baseline

Use a CSV exported from your specification process, with one approved item per row. Review the mapped values and missing-field warnings before confirming. A broad client preference is not an approval for a specific product.

Revise an approval only after the designer confirms the new values. The extension retains the earlier version and clears old check results.

Read the results carefully

  • Match: approved and observed values agree for that field.
  • Mismatch: the selected value differs.
  • Unverified: approval or visible evidence is missing.
  • Ambiguous: there are conflicting values or unresolved pairing choices.
  • Not applicable: the designer explicitly marked a field N/A.

See supported sites and current limits before relying on a check. The final purchase remains your decision.
